Flood Estimation Handbook 2013 (United Kingdom)

The FEH (2013) provides an update to the FEH (1999) Depth-Duration-Frequency (DDF) method. The FEH retains the FSR rainfall profile and Areal Reduction Factor considerations utilized in the calculation of runoff rates according to the FEH of rainfall runoff methods.

The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology provides XML (.xml) files for purchase through their FEH Web Service. FEH 2013 files contain either point or catchment descriptors. Simply import one of these files to load the file contents as a reviewable data series. The depth is calculated from the file details, and then converted to intensity-based rainfall series.

The FEH analysis considers durations of 5 minutes to 10 days and return periods from 1.3 to 100,000 years. However, storm durations of less than 30 minutes and return periods less then 2 years are not advisable with FEH 2013 rainfall.
